The RockOut Fest
July 2008

RockOut Fest is an annual Queer Rock Theater Festival beginning in July of 2008 at MC’s Voice Factory!

Queer (and/or GLBT) identified musicians and artists are invited to apply, and asked to push their music to the edge: add theatrical and unexpected twists…wear costumes and have spicy dance moves…have back-up singers and on-stage special effects! We are looking for something other than a typical band show, something outside of a folk singer and her guitar, we are looking for Rock Theater as Queer as it can get!

The RockOut Fest will be one full weekend of shows: Friday night, Saturday all day and night and Sunday afternoon. We hope to feature as wide a range of Queer Rock Theater as is out there…Hope to attract individuals and bands from all over the country and even internationally! Audiences can buy tickets for individual shows or they can buy a weekend pass.

The shows will take place not only in MC’s Voice Factory space but also in the other rooms of the Jon Sims Center for the Performing Arts, so audience members can move between different shows and music genres,

The Definition of "Rock Theater" is: Music+Performance+Theatrics+MakeUp+Costume+Movement+Attitude
Interpret this as you may…just remember, we are looking for creative acts, experimental and adventurous artists, in other words…Queer.
