Dwayne Calizo is the Executive Director is an acitve participant in the Experimental-Dance Theater in S.F. He identifies as a Voicealist/Activist/Composer/Musical Director/Educator on of the founding memebers of New College of California The Experimental Performance Institute, the worlds first B.A./M.A. and M.F.A. Degree program in Queer and Activist Performance . He received his B.M. in Vocal Performance from University of Hawaii and his M.A./M.F.A. in Creative Inquiry from New College of California. During the last 20 years, he has reseaching non-western approaches to notaion that is basic on the Aural Tradition and siple grafes/symoble and intuitive drawing that include colors as dymanics. Mr.C. has sung professionally in theater, opera, experimental performance, dance theater and robotics-theater, and has been the Musical Director and/or Vocal Director for many a famous people. He serves as the Vocal director for The ESP Project, Dance Animals, and Mahu-Mele a Theatrical Experimenatl Vocal Ensemble. His personal montrar is that he need to prodece and original work each year in order to note solely fall into the Executive Directory Box. Mr. Calizo say's I order to keep you thumb on "A" pulse you need to manke shit happen every year. He has composed 3 scores for musicals, 4 song cycles, "The Toxic Cocktail 1988" about the AIDS epidemic in Los Angeles, "Boobie Trapped" 1993, "Broken 1998" and "SPIT" 2004, The Toxic-CockTale: Hold the Retrovirus Please! 2 radio commercials, 4 soundtracks for short films, 4 albums, 11 dance theater scores, and over 150 ballads. He has also produced, written, and directed 4 short films, and 4 "Rock Theater" extravaganzas "The Queens Rain" Winner of He Best of The Firnge 1999 and Most Sold Out Shows Award."Drag Attack" and "AIDS the Made for T.V. Musical" Which won an Bay Area Critics Award. The Toxic-Coctal: Hold The Retro Virus Please which won Best of The NQAF 2008.Dwayne will also be starring in the soon to be release Movie, The Berd Club. He is also a Master Voice Teaaching and utilizes a technique he developed during a 20 years research investigational and study. Vocalstraion in an intuitive based aural tradition approach to Vocal Technique and composition. The theory is based on our connection to the inner story telling in all of us. She earned her BFA in Film at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and her MA at the Experimental Performance Institute at New College of California. Maya has worked on over a dozen films and has directed film, theater, dance, and performance art in San Francisco, New York, and her native Montreal. Her short film Stretch Mark appeared in NYU's 2004 First Run festival. Since she has been in San Francisco she has appeared in the both 2006 and 2007 National Queer Arts, the 2007 Fool Fury Festival and the 2008 Women on the Way Festival Festival. She most recently performed in "Keep Tightly Closed in a Cool Dry Place" by Megan Terry and worked as a stage manager in the 2008 San Francisco Fringe Festival. Also in 2008, Maya joined a queer narrative and experimental film collective called "Shifting Narratives." Maya is very excited to a part of the Mama Calizo's Voice Factory staff.
